Stanford Mu Corporation

In 2014, I joined the Stanford Mu Corporation as a Project Engineer. My first assignment was to work with Boeing on performing a mechanical stress analysis simulation of our company’s main product, the Stanford Mu Pressure Regulator.

The Regulator is a device which controls fluid flow in oxygen systems for space missions. Stanford Mu’s  Pressure Regulators had already been in service on the NASA Space Shuttle before it was retired. The regulator was now being certified on the Boeing Starliner, one of the options NASA is considering as a space shuttle replacement.

I spent 3 months at Boeing’s facility in Huntington Beach running high fidelity simulation code to characterize the effect of mechanical vibrations during launch of the Starliner. In the end, the Stanford Mu Regulator passed the stress analysis benchmark, was validated by simulation, and incorporated into the Starliner.
